Michel Roux

I was sorry to hear about the passing of Michele Roux. Without argument he, along with his brother Albert, are and will be among the leading and most influential chefs in the UK.

Despite the dismal, and previously well deserved, reputation of British cooking at the time he and his brother had relocated to the UK by the mid-sixties. They Opened up Le Gavroche in 1967. In 1972 they opened up the Waterside Inn. Both restaurants went on to win three Michelin Stars. Chefs such as Marco Pierre white Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wearing trained in their kitchens and went on to further change and innovate the British culinary scene.

Michel Roux, OBE was 78.
