Got a letter from a film festival today. They didn’t want my film, which I get. It happens. The one thing that did erk me was that this particular email declining my film went on forever.
It went on and on about how great the quality of the films that were submitted, how many there were and how tough the ‘always’ decision process is. Essentially it’s the
equivalent of saying, “It’s not you. It’s me.” Or, “You’re a great guy, but you know…” Listed all the great qualities, but nothing happens. Cut to the chase, say thank you, and that’s it.
